— Meals and the rhythm of the house —
- Afternoon – come home to us -
Check-in is between 16:00 and 19:00. The lounges, library and bar are open, and you are warmly welcome downstairs as soon as you have settled into your room. We are happy to serve something nice in a glass or cup by the fireplace before dinner.
If you would like to use the sauna, just let us know – we need about 45 minutes to make it warm and ready for you.
- Evening – mountain gourmet and a peaceful atmosphere -
At 19:00 we serve our 4-course dinner based on seasonal ingredients. If you have any allergies or preferences, we are happy to adapt – please let us know in advance.
While you enjoy your meal, we will prepare your room for the night.
Out of consideration for the peace of the house, we close the lounges at 11:00 PM. The house is small and sound travels easily, and several guest rooms are located directly above the lounges – therefore we help everyone find a good night's rest in good time.
- Morning – a gentle start -
Breakfast is served at the table at 09:00 or 09:30. With us you get the Sunday feeling every day – a calm, enjoyable breakfast and time to ease into the day. Please feel free to stay a little longer with coffee, the newspaper and your plans for the day. We are happy to help with suggestions for walks and activities.
If this is your day of departure, check-out is available until 12:00. We are happy to arrange transport to the train station with our hotel car – just let us know.
- Daytime – at your own pace -
Whenever you feel like it, two beautiful national parks lie just outside our doorstep. After breakfast you might head out into nature – or perhaps you prefer a comfortable chair and a good book in the library.
During the day we take care of the rooms. Lunch can usually be arranged between 13:00 and 17:00 – please ask us about the possibilities on the day.

— Sustainability; small choices that matter —
At Geilo Mountain Lodge we care deeply for the house, the surrounding nature and the community we are part of. Our goal is to create meaningful experiences today while helping ensure that future generations can enjoy the same.
During your stay you will see that we:
-
take care of this historic house from 1917 through maintenance, reuse and respect for traditional craftsmanship
-
focus on local and seasonal ingredients from farmers and producers in our region
-
avoid unnecessary single-use products and choose quality items meant to last
-
save energy and water wherever possible – without compromising your comfort
-
sort waste and make it easy for our guests to do the same
-
collaborate with local guides, craftspeople and small businesses in Geilo
-
work for economic sustainability through responsible pricing and prudent calculations, enabling us to preserve this small house, the craftsmanship, our team and the cooperation with local producers – year after year
You are an important part of this effort. Small choices – such as reusing towels, turning off lights and choosing local flavours – make a real difference.
